AGC Honest Cops Award: Recognizing Integrity in the Police Force

Posted on: February 12, 2025

The Aclan Group of Companies (AGC) has long been an advocate for integrity, accountability, and excellence in every sector of society. This commitment extends beyond our businesses and into our communities, where we actively support initiatives that uplift and recognize individuals who demonstrate unwavering dedication to public service. One such initiative is the AGC Honest Cops Award, a program dedicated to honoring police officers who uphold the highest standards of integrity in law enforcement.

This program was first launched in Muntinlupa City, under the guidance of the city’s former Chief of Police, a man known for his leadership and dedication to upholding ethical policing. What began as a local initiative has now expanded to other cities, proving that honesty and integrity in law enforcement deserve to be acknowledged and rewarded.

Honoring the Good, Not Just Magnifying the Bad

There is a common saying that “not all apples are rotten,” and this holds true for the Philippine National Police (PNP). While public discourse often focuses on negative incidents involving police misconduct, these cases do not define the entire organization. The PNP consists of approximately 250,000 officers, and while some 3,000 officers may face legal or ethical issues, this figure represents just a little over 1% of the force. This means that 99% of police officers continue to serve with honor, dedication, and integrity—and they deserve recognition.

The AGC Honest Cops Award seeks to shift the narrative and bring to light the silent heroes within the ranks of the PNP. These are the officers who risk their lives daily, ensuring peace and order in our communities, often with little recognition or reward.

A Call to Action for the Private Sector

At AGC, we believe that maintaining peace and order is a shared responsibility. While it is easy to criticize and demand accountability from law enforcement, we must also ask ourselves: What are we doing to support the honest men and women in uniform?

The private sector has a significant role to play in strengthening public institutions. Many companies invest heavily in corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, but few extend their support to the police force. If we truly desire a safer, more orderly society, we must help those who protect us.

Providing moral support, financial assistance, and resources to our police officers can make a difference. Simple initiatives such as recognition programs, scholarships for their children, and livelihood support for their families can boost morale and reinforce a culture of honesty and integrity within the PNP.

A Challenge to Business Leaders

This is a call to action for all business leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders: Let us do more for our men and women in uniform. Instead of engaging with them only in times of need, let us build lasting partnerships that empower and uplift.

At AGC, we are committed to rewarding honesty, recognizing sacrifices, and supporting those who serve. We invite the business community to join us in this mission. If we work together, we can create a safer, more just, and prosperous society for all.
